Help & Support
Ultimaker 2+ is an evolution of the fused deposition modeling (FDM) printer. As the name suggests, it is the upgraded version of the Ultimaker 2. Thus, if you are already impressed with Ultimaker 2, brace yourself because Ultimaker 2+ offers more and comes with better specs and features.
What is Ultimaker 2+
Ultimaker 3D printers are created to execute complicated models with ease. Ultimaker 2+ comes with a revamped filament feeder, four extruder nozzles in various diameters and an improved airflow system. These features along with its excellent bridging enable Ultimaker 2+ to produce accurate details and impressive print quality. In addition, Ultimaker 2+ also comes with a great speed and is quieter compared to most 3D printers.
Ultimaker 2+ is manufactured to perform, so you can surely count on it. This 3D printer offers three preset resolution high (60 microns), normal (100 microns) and fast (150 microns). However, take note that the lower the number of microns, the higher the resolution. However, it is recommended that you reduce the print speed and lower the fan speed to achieve a better print.
Ultimaker 2+ Specs & Features
Just like most 3D printers, Ultimaker 2+ comes with its strength and weakness. Check out its outstanding features and cons in the next passages.
Beautiful Design – Ultimaker 2 comes with a pleasant design and Ultimaker 2+ is equipped with the same aesthetics. The two 3D printers are almost identical. Aside from its beautiful design, its build platform is a sheet of glass, which is heated before printing each job to keep the corners of ABS plastic objects from curling up.
Easy to Set Up – Ultimaker 2+ is very simple to setup. You simply need to snap the filament spool holder in place at the back of the printer, affix the build plate to the build platform with metal clip, plug on the power supply and turn the printer on.
Impressive Performance – Ultimaker 2+ is equipped with a geared feeder for increased reliability. This innovative feeder also allows you to easily swap filament and choose the correct pressure for the filament. It also includes a swappable nozzle for greater control. With this feature, you can easily switch between 0.25, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm nozzles for greater detail and faster print speed. For a smoother print, this 3D printer sports an optimized airflow that is aimed below the nozzle and equally from both sides.

For sure, you wanted to know the Ultimaker 2+ experience of users who already purchased this 3D printer. You can find some below. See also 3d printer review.
“Easy to use, quiet, reliable printer. Works well out of the box, and is quite user-friendly for a 3d printer,” J. Fiala, an Amazon user wrote.
“Fantastic printer. After getting my feet wet, and very disappointed with two low-cost printers, I decided to try a premium printer and hope for the best. Not disappointed. Print quality is excellent and the noise level is fairly low. Also, the unit is very compact but has a large build capacity. One caveat, however: This printer uses 2.85mm filament, not the more widely available 1.75mm filament,” another Amazon user wrote.
Ultimaker 2+ is a great printer. It is easy to set up, manage and use. Aside from being user-friendly, this 3D printer is fast and offers high resolution. It is also quiet compared to most printers that you will find in the market. However, it is also more expensive. If you want to enjoy your 3D printer and be free from worries, and if your budget allows you, Ultimaker 2+ is a great choice.
